Phone and SMS built in, not bolted on
Claver does not integrate with a phone system. It is one. You get a business number, two-way texting, missed-call text-back, voicemail, and in-app calling inside the same app that holds the job. The long version lives on the phone system feature page.
What the phone stack includes, by plan
The short version. Every line below is part of the plan price, with metered overage only when you pass the included volume.
| Capability | Plan | Included volume |
|---|---|---|
| Two-way SMS and MMS | Crew, $39/mo | 150 messages a month, then 2.9¢ each |
| Missed-call text-back | Crew, $39/mo | Automatic text to any caller you miss, rate limited per caller |
| Business phone number | Business, $79/mo | One US local number, area code of your choice |
| In-app calling | Business, $79/mo | 150 minutes a month, then 3.9¢ a minute |
| IVR menu and voicemail inbox | Business, $79/mo | Press-one routing, voicemail with transcription |
| Inbound call recording | Business, $79/mo | Consent announcement played before recording starts |
| AI receptionist | Business, $79/mo | 150 AI minutes a month. The after-hours option that routes calls to the AI is still marked coming soon, so after-hours falls to voicemail for now |
Full capability list, sample scripts, and the compliance detail are on the phone system page.
How to connect your phone number
There is no Twilio account to open and no SIP trunk to configure. Claver provisions the number for you and wires the webhooks.
- Open Settings, then the Phone tab. On Starter the tab is locked, because texting starts on Crew.
- Enter the area code you want. Claver searches available US local numbers in that area code.
- Click Set Up Phone Number. The number is provisioned to your account and its call and text webhooks are pinned to your workspace automatically.
- Register for A2P 10DLC. US carriers require business texting to be registered. Claver walks the brand and campaign registration for you and reports the status as it clears.
- Set your missed-call text and after-hours behavior. Write the text a missed caller receives, and choose whether after-hours calls forward or go to voicemail.
Why it matters that it is not an integration
When the phone lives in another app, the call and the job never meet. Claver puts the number, the text thread, the voicemail, and the recording on the customer record, so the person picking up already sees the history. That is the whole argument, and the phone system page makes it in full with the plan-by-plan detail.
Consent and compliance
Texting is opt-out aware and fails closed, so a customer who opts out will not be messaged again by an automation. Call recording plays a consent announcement before it starts. A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration is part of setup rather than an afterthought, because unregistered traffic is what gets a small shop filtered by carriers.
Which plan you need
Texting and missed-call text-back start on Crew at $39/mo. The phone line, in-app calling, IVR, voicemail, recording, and the AI receptionist are Business at $79/mo. Starter at $19/mo has no SMS or calling. Compare the tiers on the pricing page.
