What this yard inspection checklist includes

A thorough yard inspection before the first visit protects the business, gives the tech everything they need to do the job safely, and sets the right expectations with the customer on the initial cleanup cost.

  • Customer and property information. Name, address, inspection date, and tech name
  • Yard size and layout. Approximate square footage, lot type, and a description of the service area so any tech can navigate the property
  • Gate and access assessment. Gate type, whether it latches from inside, whether it swings both ways, and how access is provided
  • Dog information. Number and breed, temperament observed during inspection, and whether the dogs will be inside or out during scheduled visits
  • Hazard assessment. Equipment, toys, patio furniture, seasonal items, unknown lawn chemicals, and any holes or low spots where standing water collects
  • Surface and drainage. Whether the lawn drains well or pools, areas of heavy dog traffic that concentrate waste, and any areas where waste may be hidden by tall grass or ground cover
  • Existing waste volume. An estimate of the current waste load at initial inspection, which determines the time and upcharge for the first cleanup visit
  • Notes and photos. A section for additional property notes, customer preferences, and a reminder to photograph the gate, yard, and any hazards at setup

Keep the numbers when the job is booked

Inside Claver the same estimate becomes the quote you send, and the quote becomes the invoice you get paid on, so nobody retypes a price between the driveway and the bank.

Pet waste yard inspection checklist FAQ

Why should I inspect a yard before starting pet waste service?
A yard inspection before the first visit documents the gate access, any hazards, the existing waste load, and dog behavior. It protects the business if a dog escapes through a broken gate, prevents the tech from being surprised by an aggressive dog, and gives an accurate time estimate for the initial cleanup visit, which often takes two to three times as long as a regular service visit.
Is this checklist really free?
Yes, the yard inspection checklist is free with no signup, no credit card, and nothing saved to a server, so the customer and property details stay on the device.
What should I do if the yard inspection reveals a hazard?
Document the hazard clearly on the checklist, take a photo, and notify the customer before starting service. For hazards that prevent safe service. An aggressive dog with no containment, a broken gate that cannot be secured, or active pesticide application. Do not begin service until the hazard is resolved. Note the date and method of customer notification on the checklist.
