What an electrical estimate should include
A thorough electrical estimate protects you and gives the customer a clear picture of what they're approving. Make sure yours covers all of these:
- Customer and job site details. Name, phone, service address, and panel location
- Scope of work. Plain-language description of what is being installed, repaired, or upgraded
- Itemized labor and materials. Line-by-line pricing for hours, wire, breakers, devices, and fixtures
- Panel and circuit notes. Amperage, panel brand, condition, and which circuits are affected
- Code compliance. AFCI, GFCI, and tamper-resistant requirements, plus permit and inspection details
- Validity period. An expiration date on the quoted price, typically 14 to 30 days
- Cleanup and restoration. Whether drywall patching or surface repair is included or separate
- Warranty on work. Labor warranty length and any manufacturer warranty on installed parts
- Inspection scheduling. Rough timeline for rough-in and final inspection, and who calls for each
